GoogleDocs
I absolutely love using googledocs. I have used it in a few other classes and it is seriously such a great way to work on projects, especially if you are doing it in a group. I am currently working on another googledoc with a big group to put together a lesson plan and we designate certain times where we all go on it together to access it and can fix stuff as a group. It is so much easier to work with instead of having to constantly send things as an attachment back and forth through emails. Since I was already somewhat familiar with this tool, it was not that hard for me to get used to. When first learning how to use this site, I struggled with the copy and paste because I was trying to do it the same way that I had done it in Word. I soon realized that I needed to highlight it and drag it to place it where I wanted. I also went about doing my resume a little differently. I uploaded my resume from a word document and edited it through googledocs, which was a little challenging just getting used to the different format, but I quickly learned how to adjust. I think this is a great tool to use especially in the classroom because students can work together on projects all in one space and it is just easier for them to all see the document at the same time and work on it together, but from their own computer.

I also like working with Google docs to collaborate with large groups! It makes it so much easier for us college students to all put in work on the same document without meeting 5-6 times to finish a major project! I use it all of the time in my classes. One downfall, today when I actually met face-to-face with my group (I know bizarre) I tried to copy and paste a revised document with tracked changes and comments from my teacher into a Google Doc so we could all work on it together in the Union. But the document would not copy and paste including the comments my teacher made. Kind of a bummer considering only one person could do the work at a time!
ReplyDeleteI just started using Google Docs for another project and it is great. My group actually did meet quiet a few times, but being able to each sit in front of our own laptops and add text to the same document is so much easier. I think its also a great idea to go on at designated times to work on it!
